Location:  This course is a one-day, in-person session at The Pennsylvania Municipal League offices at 414 N. Second St., Harrisburg

Time: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Course Description:

This comprehensive in-person training course is designed for beginners or those who need a refresher seeking to hone their computer literacy skills in today’s digital world. Participants will gain foundational knowledge and practical experience with essential tools from Microsoft and Google, along with crucial insights into cybersecurity best practices.

Join us to empower yourself with the essential skills needed to navigate the digital landscape confidently and securely!

This is a 6-hour training program, consisting of interactive lectures, hands-on activities, and group discussions.

Target Audience:

 This course is ideal for all levels of municipal government employees looking to boost their confidence and skills in using computers effectively and safely.

Topics:

Microsoft Suite Proficiency: Explore basics of Word, Excel, and Outlook Participants will learn how to create Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and exchange and manage email messages in Outlook.

Google Tools Overview: Discover the functionality of Google Workspace, including Docs and Sheets. Collaborate in real-time, utilize cloud storage with Google Drive.

Cybersecurity Awareness: Understand the importance of cybersecurity in everyday computing. This section will cover essential topics such as password management, recognizing phishing attempts, safe browsing practices, and securing personal information.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the course, you can expect to be able to:

  • Access and use basic functions of Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Describe the basic interface and features of Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  • Save and retrieve documents in Microsoft and Google cloud drives
  • Create and manage secure passwords
  • Identify common signs of phishing emails and messages
  • Recognize and avoid malicious web
